So I’ve been on a challenging walk in my professional life recently. Nonetheless the “lull months” can be excruciating, fluctuating between variable incomes and sudden PC crashes can be tiring. So I have decided to take a break from it all and release the office space. The branding of Ovine still stands, just that, now it’s been laid out, that Ovine will be temporary a “side-kick” in my career.

I am definitely ready for a fresh new start.

The portfolio has been updated. You may have to refresh the photos on the top right hand corner for the latest pictures.Take a look and enjoy… :)

A much needed update…

I am so sorry to have been missing in action for so long…

The last 2 months have been very fruitfully spent on A LOT of work. But I am totally enjoying it too. So here’s a summary of what Ovine has been involved in so far:

- Short film Makeup and Styling work : August 29

It was such a great working experience working with the guys at the short film of August 29, a HIV awareness film. It is a bittersweet story based on the true story. It was my pleasure to be working with a whole bunch of passionate people. More updates later at the launch of the film on June.

In the meantime, you can check out the guys at Blk A Pictures for some of their showreels.

- International Collaboration on some Creative Work

I have been doing quite a lot of creative shoots recently, making like-minded friends along the way by churning out great work with them. Check out Julia Che from Canada and her creative outfit “Lotus Leaf”. I had the pleasure to work with her and photographer Billy Soh. A lot of Black on blacks treatment and a dramatic play on glossy brows. Can’t wait to share the pictures with you.

- It’s a Bazaar world

Some of you have already know that I have been involved in a fair share of bazaars recently. Fashbash, Ecoluxe at Raffles City and most possibly “DonnaVi’. Indeed, the challenge is always to churn more unique pieces at the fairs. Nevertheless, I am proud to share with you the launch of my new shopping site at www.missyriscwearables.com.

Do check back regularly.

Fine Jewelry Design

butterfly.jpg

Recently I had the privilege to design some fine jewelry again. And here showcased are some fine jewelry designs that I designed for wholesaler Everest Jewelry.

The design of fine jewelry are a tad different from costume Jewelry, they have to be more detailed as they have to be the exact carat(eg size) and also weight of the precious metals. That is not very different from electronics industrial design where even milimeters are crucial.

Have a look at more in the ‘portfolio’ section.

Ovine goes Etsy

I decided to stay in today from my less than perfect SOHO apartment today. Part of the reason was out of the effectiveness of making more handmade stuff for the fleamart on the 16th this month, where it will be an effective launchpad for Ovine and Gloriouslillies. A little bit of time was wasted fumbling on making mini local delicacies out of polymer clay. But I guessed t was good practice and therapuetic to make stuff with my hands while listening the Pastor Prince’s sermons.

“IN WHOM” I am well pleased… After some tough knocking, that fact sunk in finally today.

Anyhow, Client O called today and expressed some interest to work with me on a project. Am very happy to be making new contacts and opening new accounts. I know the ‘in-whom’ in question is definitely in control of this. I have a great feeling about this possible collaboration.

Today missyrisc went Etsy by listing her painted shoes online. This was the banner designed:

On the design front, I had new ideas of making new lampshades.Hands are definitely getting very itchy to work with Art Clay after looking at what J showed me yesterday at the office.

Found some new plush designs and am thinking about making plush toys for Ovine. So many to do, and so little time.

It’s a beautiful life. ^_^

Love Came Down

After a while you get numbed by the disappointments from people “enquiring”. I start to see my business and it’s a enquiries a popularity game. The more enquiries, the higher the chances.

I guessed I could a lesson or two from fishermen. How to cast a net wide and to gather a net-breaking, boat-sinking load of fishes takes a lot of wisdom and favor.

Some of the recent projects of Ovine are some costume jewelry projects. A graphic design job is also in the pipeline. *fingers crossed*

Anyhow, I have a whole lot to accomplished before my fleamart stall opens for 6 hours on the 16th Dec. More updates will be posted soon.

Before I part, here is a picture “Love Came Down” , a collection of unique handmade jewelry pieces

Illustration Work

I started to illustrate when I couldn’t find cards of my liking. I am also a manga reader therefore it’s only natural that I doodle and draw people along the way. I started to sketch my “fashion models” since 13. Most of my subjects are female, and it reflects on my life and ins and outs as single Asian female.

Some people likened my style to Retro French Fashion pattern books, I think it’s just me. See more of my illustrations here.

Shoe Designs

Now and then I would get my hands dirty again to do some painting. These are some of my shoe designs:

Finally,this site is up.

After fumbling with multiple codes and scripting, I am so glad that the OVINE site is finally up and running. Now, I’ve realised over the years as a designer, the whole deal of constant renewal is what kept the design passion alive. I never knew for sure that, I will end up design my own website.

The past few months have been rather quiet. In the industrial design process, when it is down to procurement, sometimes things just get to a rude halt. Fret not, because at some point, I am actually really enjoying this process of re-inventing my skills.

Good thing as always, that I am also deeply rooted in the fashion makeup and styling department.

About the “CREATIVE FLOCK”

I have no wish to make this into a solo project. The next step is actually to gather my creative friends and broadcast them on the “creative flock” page. It is so tiring to be a freelancer and to end up getting bullied by clients. The setting up of OVINE meant that there is a decent umbrella to house individual creative talents. If you are freelancer and would like to be featured under the creative flock, please write to me at iris@ovinedreams.com. What I will do is to represent you and to meet your clients for you, should you hate to talk to clients and to negotiate with them.

In short, I am more than willing to be managing your account and to fend off all that hot air.. LOLz.

So what’s to ogle at this site?

Alright, for starters, I have uploaded a good amount of works/projects on the portfolio site. Below is just a teaser of what you might see:

Do subscribe to this site via RSS for more updates.

Also, I will be adding more information and juicy news on tradeshows, basically anything pertaining to design on this site.

The next fields to graze….

Just some Ovine projects to look out for:

  • Exclusive handmade in-house jewelry collection
  • Limited edition painted canvas shoes
  • Feminine tech gadgets

Well, that’s a mouthful now! Adios! And yay to greener pastures!
